Introduction
VibeShift ("we," "our," or "us"), a product of Jyaasa Inc., is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our macOS application.
Key Point: VibeShift is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect minimal data, process everything locally on your device, and never sell your information.
Information We Collect

- We do not collect personal identification information
- We do not track your browsing history or app usage patterns
- We do not access the contents of your files or documents
- We do not transmit your wallpapers, Dock configurations, desktop file names, or app lists to our servers
- We do not use third-party analytics or tracking services
- We do not collect any data for advertising purposes
- We do not collect crash reports or telemetry of any kind
Information Processed Locally (Never Transmitted)
The following data is processed and stored only on your device and, if you enable iCloud backup (a Pro feature with an on/off toggle in the License window), in your personal iCloud account:

Information We May Collect
License Validation
If you purchase VibeShift Pro, the app transmits the following to LemonSqueezy (our license server) when activating, validating, or deactivating a license:
- License key (provided by you during activation)
- Anonymous device identifier — a short string of the form
VibeShift-<8 hex chars>derived by taking a one-way SHA-256 hash of your Mac's hardware UUID and keeping only the first 8 characters. The hash cannot be reversed to recover your hardware UUID, contains no personally identifying information, and stays the same across app reinstalls on the same Mac so you don't burn an activation seat by reinstalling. It exists solely so you can identify which of your devices a license is activated on, in the LemonSqueezy dashboard.
We do not collect or store your payment information — all payment processing is handled by LemonSqueezy.

How We Use Your Information

Data Storage and Security
Local Storage
Your context profiles and settings are stored locally at:
~/Library/Application Support/com.jyaasainc.VibeShift/
iCloud Backup (Optional, Pro)
iCloud backup is available to Pro users and is controlled by a toggle in the License window (on by default for Pro). When enabled, each Mac writes its own backup file — including your contexts and that Mac's name and a one-way hardware-derived identifier in the filename — to your personal iCloud account:

Backups are never applied to another Mac automatically; restoring a backup is an explicit action in the License window. iCloud data is encrypted by Apple and protected by your Apple ID credentials. We cannot access your iCloud data.
Desktop File Storage
When you hide desktop files using VibeShift, they are moved to:
~/Desktop/.vibeshift_storage/(organized into per-context subfolders)
The Desktop tab offers "Restore All Hidden Files" and "Reveal Storage" buttons at any time.
Files are never deleted — only relocated. You retain full access to this folder.
Third-Party Services
VibeShift contacts only the following external services. No user content (wallpapers, Dock configurations, file names, or app lists) is ever transmitted to any of them.
LemonSqueezy (Payment Processing & License Validation)
- Payment is processed directly by LemonSqueezy at checkout.
- For license validation, the app sends only your license key and an anonymous device identifier (hashed from your hardware UUID) to
api.lemonsqueezy.com. - We do not receive or store your credit card information.

Apple iCloud (Optional Backup)
If you enable iCloud backup, your data is subject to Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Sparkle (App Updates)
We use the Sparkle framework to check for app updates against our update feed at vibeshift.jyaasainc.com. When checking for updates:
- Your IP address may be logged by our update server
- macOS version and app version are transmitted as part of the update request
- No personal information is collected
Wi-Fi and Location Data
Wi-Fi Network Detection
VibeShift can trigger context switches based on Wi-Fi network names (SSIDs). This feature:
- Runs entirely on your device
- Never transmits network names to us or any third party
- Requires Location permission on modern macOS (Apple requirement for Wi-Fi access)
Location Permission
We request Location permission solely to read the current Wi-Fi network name. We do not:
- Track your geographic location
- Store location history
- Transmit location data anywhere
You can use VibeShift without enabling Wi-Fi triggers or granting Location permission.
Your Rights and Choices
Access Your Data
All your data is stored locally on your device. You can access it directly in Finder.
Delete Your Data
To completely remove your data:
- While the app is still installed, use "Restore All Hidden Files" in the Desktop tab (or move the contents of
~/Desktop/.vibeshift_storage/back manually), then remove that folder - Quit the app and delete it from Applications
- Remove
~/Library/Application Support/com.jyaasainc.VibeShift/ - Remove the app's preferences (onboarding flags and cached license state): run
defaults delete com.jyaasainc.VibeShiftin Terminal, or delete~/Library/Preferences/com.jyaasainc.VibeShift.plist - If using iCloud: Remove
~/Library/Mobile Documents/iCloud~com~jyaasainc~VibeShift/
Data Portability
Your settings are stored in standard JSON format. You can export, back up, or transfer them freely.
Children's Privacy
VibeShift is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
International Users
VibeShift is developed in Canada and may be used worldwide. If you are located outside Canada, please be aware that any information you provide may be transferred to and processed in Canada or other countries where our service providers operate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:
- Posting a notice in the app
- Updating the "Last Updated" date above
Your continued use of VibeShift after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
